This is what is going on with Indian supercars that were supposed to be launched by now

In the last decade, the supercar culture in India has grown, and we have seen several young entrepreneurs and celebrities buying exotic cars. Many of these have also been featured on our website. All these exotic supercars are from foreign brands. While many Indian brands have worked on concept cars, some of which were sports cars, some of these concepts were showcased to the public years ago and have not yet made it to production. Here is an update on the status of Indian supercars or sports cars that were supposed to be launched in the market by now.

The video has been uploaded by Indian Car Guy on their YouTube channel. The video discusses sports cars and supercars by Indian manufacturers that were scheduled to be launched in the market by now. The host begins by talking about the DC Avanti, which was one of India’s first domestically made sports cars. Sadly, due to various reasons, the Avanti has been discontinued from the market.

The first concept featured in the video is the Tamo Racemo, a sports car concept by Tata Motors. The car was actually designed by Marcello Gandini in Italy, the same designer who once worked on Lamborghini Miura and Countach. The Tamo Racemo was supposed to be powered by a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine generating 187 bhp. However, due to the high production cost of this model, Tata had to halt the project.

The next car discussed in the video is the Vazirani Shul, a hypercar that was first showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2018. It is a turbine-electric hypercar that utilizes a jet turbine-electric powertrain. Its highly advanced drivetrain allows the vehicle to deliver high performance without compromising its range. Chunky Vazirani, the chief designer of the firm, has designed the hypercar and holds experience working with brands like Jaguar Land Rover and Rolls-Royce in the past.

The Shul was initially planned to be launched in the market by 2021, but it hasn’t been released yet. The reason for this delay is that Vazirani is currently working on another electric supercar called the Ekonk, which is expected to be launched before the Shul. The Ekonk is still under development and has undergone testing at Natrax. Like the Shul, the Ekonk is also powered by two electric motors on the rear axle and generates 722 Bhp. The car’s low drag coefficient contributes to its excellent performance on the race track. Additionally, the car’s weight of around 738 kilograms provides an advantage in enhancing overall performance.

Moving on, the next car featured in the video is the Hyperion-1 by Motormind. It was India’s response to the likes of the KTM X-Bow and the Ariel Atom. However, production of this car has not yet commenced. Motormind plans to manufacture the Hyperion in limited numbers. Although it is currently an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle, the production version is expected to be electric. When will it be launched? We have no clue.

Lastly, we have Mean Metal Motors, which has teased us with two concepts. One of them was a sports car, while the other was a 4-door saloon. In this case, we will focus on the M-Zero sports car. The car was expected to generate around 500 Hp and achieve a 0-100 kmph sprint in 3 seconds. As of now, there is no update on this vehicle, and the website also displays a different car. This suggests that the brand may have already scrapped the project.
