Kids who enjoy riding their bikes or are interested in learning how to ride a bike are invited to Wilcox Medical Center on July 22.

“We’re extremely excited to be hosting Keiki Bike Safety Day,” said Jen Chahanovich, president and CEO of Wilcox Medical Center and CEO of Kaua‘i Medical Clinic. “This kid-friendly, interactive event allows us to connect with our community and teach families the importance of proper bike safety practices, which align with our mission to create a healthier Hawai‘i.”

This safety education event is held in partnership with several community organizations. The 2023 Keiki Bike Safety Day will feature various educational, hands-on activities, including:

  • A helmet fit station where Wilcox staff will fit and give away free dual-certified helmets to keiki (while supplies last).
  • A helmet decoration station.
  • A bicycle skills enhancement course led by Kaua‘i Path.
  • Bike safety inspection stations led by AlohaCare to ensure bikes are operating safely.
  • A photo booth with props, where families can create a fun keepsake from the event.
  • Booths from American Medical Response Kaua‘i; Boy Scouts of America, Aloha Council; Girl Scouts of Hawai‘i; Hawaii Life Flight; Kaua‘i Police Department; Keiki to Career Kaua’i; and Wilcox Medical Center Concussion Prevention.

The July 22 event is free and open to the public. It will run from 8 to 11 a.m. at Wilcox Medical Center’s back parking lot.
