Jeffrey Ramos-Sotelo made several mistakes on Sunday, June 25.
His first was trying to sell a stolen motorcycle on Facebook Marketplace in Kenner.
His second mistake was unknowingly trying to sell it back to the person he stole it from.
When the owner notified the Kenner Police Department that this meeting was happening in the 300 block of West Esplanade, the patrol division immediately responded and arrived on scene. At that point, once confronted, Ramos-Sotelo fled from officers on the stolen motorcycle, which of course was another mistake as he ended up in the Grandlake subdivision, one of the many subdivisions in Kenner that is known as a strong and vigilant community.
As units set a perimeter and flooded the subdivision, residents were on hand advising officers exactly where Ramos-Sotelo fled on the stolen motorcycle. One neighbor flagged down an officer and advised that he saw Ramos-Sotelo actually get into the back seat of a vehicle, as he was giving the information the vehicle was seen coming up Grandlake Blvd. heading towards the witness and the officer, the vehicle was stopped at which point
Ramos-Sotelo was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property, Aggravated Flight from Officers, and a ticket book full of traffic violations. Joshwel Gonzales-Caminerd, the driver of the vehicle which picked up Ramos-Sotelo was arrested for Principle to Illegal Possession of Stolen Property and Obstruction of Justice. The stolen motorcycle was recovered on the canal bank of the Platt canal. The Kenner Police Department thanks all those residents that provided such valuable information that lead to the location and the arrests of these two suspects.
