Hillsborough County – Hillsborough Agencies Seek Input for Truck Route Plan Update

Survey will be open for resident participation through Aug. 1

Do you remember the toilet paper shortage of 2020? It’s hard to forget. Having essential products in stock and available at local stores or at the front door is important to daily life. That availability, however, comes with a cost- more delivery trucks on county roads.

The Hillsborough Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) and Hillsborough County officials are asking residents and road users to participate in a survey about trucking activity in the county. Residents can take the Hillsborough County Truck Route Plan survey by visiting the Hillsborough TPO website.

The survey will be available online in English and Spanish through 1 a.m. on Aug. 1.

Survey purpose

The survey will help the Hillsborough TPO learn about safety concerns, environmental issues, or other observations involving semi-trucks, delivery trucks, and other large freight-carrying vehicles.

Additionally, residents can suggest solutions to perceived truck route issues.
The survey results will also be considered in the freight component of the 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan currently being prepared by the Hillsborough TPO.

The truck route plan is an important tool for managing heavy vehicle flow in the county, improving safety, reducing environmental impacts, and preserving the quality of life for residents.
